Every day. Every call. When you
need us, we answer.

Nothing is more important to the DMPD than being here for this city and its residents. That’s why we’ve always been committed to doing what’s right, and why we’re always looking out for new and better ways to keep you safe. The Guardian Project is our answer to the evolving needs of a community we all call home. We’re inviting you to join us in this mission to do more to keep Des Moines safe, because like you, we understand that no matter what you need or when you need it, there’s no greater peace of mind than knowing that someone you can rely on is always just a call away.

Ahead of a growing national debate on fair policing, we’ve launched the Guardian Project to ensure that openness, honesty and accountability are visible in our officers and our department every day, in everything we do. Our goal — to equip every DMPD officer with a body camera — is the next step we’re taking to more completely protect you, our police and the best interests of Des Moines. But we can’t do it alone.

Public support for the DMPD has always been essential to the effectiveness of our efforts, and now we’re requesting your help in bringing this beneficial technology to the many officers who protect our neighborhoods, schools, businesses and public spaces. We’re all members of this community, and we all can make a difference in keeping it safe. Please join us as we accept this new call to protect and serve.
